one camera photographing another...

A young video journalist from news.com followed my camera and I around recently - here's a quick
two minute video about it (forgive the furrowed brow - it was a stinky hot day, too hot not to furrow...)

  1. Congratulations on the great publicity- well deserved.

  2. Thanks Trent. I love that on the news.com site the story on the blog is sandwhiched between stories on celeb lovers and Jordan!

  5. Lovely to be able to put a face to the camera operator and to be able to see just how you approach the people in the street for a photo... do you get a lot of knock backs I wonder.

  6. I love this site. It's something that's important for preserving old memories and seen with your artistic eye, it's wonderful. Very inspiring. How do you put 2 photos side by side like that?

  7. Pennie and David - Glad you liked it. To answer your quesiton, I get surprisingly few knock-backs. Which is good!
Sylvia - Thank you. I put 2 images side by side using Photoshop. Very easy, just need to follow a few steps.

  8. Louise, that's great publicity, and I'm hoping this is the beginning of something special for you, as it's well deserved. I'm telling everyone I know about your blog, and I'm sure all your other fans are too. As well as this excellent publicity, you're also building a following in the best possible way – good old ultra-credible word of mouth.

Big tip: are you heading to Chinatown tomorrow for Chinese New Year? Is Chinatown a suburb? If not, it ought to be an honorary suburb for a day!

  9. Louise, this is wonderful! I have often wondered how you go about it, especially asking people if you can photograph them (I have never had that courage!).

Also, I meant to let you know the other day, I couldn't believe your feature on brighton-le-sands - I was RIGHT there, on that very day, at that very time the bride was walking along the road at the beach. I was in my car sitting at the lights, on my way back from stanwell park, having just visted a friend. The coincidence is amazing because 1. I don't even live in Australia, i live in Amsterdam 2. i have only ever driven through brighton-le-sands maybe 3 times in my whole life.

I watched that bride walk with her entourage, and took in every detail. And you captured it. I still can't believe it.

Thanks again for all the inspiration.

  10. Jamie - Thanks so much for your support - this is such a personally fulfilling project but it does feel good when people approach you and want to profile it in some way. As for Chinatown, I thought I might wait for the Twilight Parade next Sunday - maybe - but there's a definite eastern influence in tomorrow's post too.

Pia Jane - That is wierd isn't it?! Wish you'd stopped off for a gelato and we could have had a chin wag. The bride was very accomodating given she must have had a million photos taken of her already that day. Hope Amsterdam is still a snowy wonderland and thank you for you kind comments.
